Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2025 | Effective: June 2025

Introduction

Privacy Check ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website privcheck.org (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our privacy analysis tool. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. If you have any questions or concerns about our policy or practices, please contact us at support@privcheck.org.

Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of our site. This policy applies to all information collected through our website and any related services, sales, or marketing we may offer.

The Short Version

Privacy Check is built on a privacy-by-design principle. In plain language: we do not collect your personal data, we do not store it, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties for commercial purposes. The email address or username you submit for analysis is processed by our AI system and immediately discarded. We have no database of user submissions.

Information We Collect

Information you submit for analysis: When you use our privacy analysis tool, you may submit an email address or username. This information is transmitted to our AI analysis backend (Groq API), processed to generate a privacy assessment, and the result is returned to your browser. We do not retain this information after processing. It is not stored in any database, log file, or analytics system on our end.

Automatically collected information: Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) may automatically collect certain technical information when you visit our site, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and pages viewed. This information is collected by Cloudflare as part of their standard infrastructure operations and is subject to Cloudflare's privacy policy. We do not access or use this data for identifying individual users.

Information you provide voluntarily: If you contact us via our contact form or email, we receive the information you choose to share (your name, email address, and message content). We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry and do not add you to any mailing lists without explicit consent.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect or receive in the following ways:

We do not use your information for advertising purposes, we do not sell your information to third parties, and we do not use it to build user profiles or behavioral models.

Third-Party Services

Groq API: Our AI analysis is powered by Groq's inference API. When you submit an email or username for analysis, this data is transmitted to Groq's servers for processing. Groq's data handling is governed by their own privacy policy, available at groq.com. We use Groq solely for the purpose of generating privacy analysis responses.

Cloudflare Pages: Our website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process certain technical data as described in their privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. Cloudflare provides DDoS protection, content delivery, and hosting services.

Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic patterns, such as which pages are most visited and how people generally navigate the site. This data is used in aggregate only and is never linked to anything you submit to the privacy scanner. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google Fonts: We use Google Fonts to display web typography. When you visit our site, your browser makes a request to Google's servers to download font files. Google may log this request per their privacy policy. No personal information beyond what is standard for web requests is shared.

Google AdSense: We display advertisements through Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to show you relevant ads based on your browsing history. You can opt out of personalized advertising at google.com/settings/ads. Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by their privacy policy.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Please refer to our Cookie Policy for detailed information about the cookies and tracking technologies we use. In summary: we set one functional cookie for theme preference. Google Analytics sets analytics cookies to measure aggregate site usage. Google AdSense may set advertising cookies. Our hosting provider may set security-related cookies.

Data Retention

Because we do not store submissions made through our analysis tool, there is no retention period for that data — it simply does not persist. Contact form submissions are retained for as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry, typically no more than 12 months, after which they are deleted.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These may include the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Since we collect minimal information, in most cases there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. For any privacy-related requests, contact us at support@privcheck.org.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@privcheck.org and we will take steps to delete such information.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect the information we handle. Our website is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption. Our infrastructure is hosted on Cloudflare, which provides enterprise-grade DDoS protection and security monitoring. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. We will indicate the date of the most recent update at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
